A few practical details about the KidiZoom DX4.
VTech’s recommended
age range for DX4
01What ages is the DX4 designed for?
VTech lists the KidiZoom Smartwatch DX4 for ages 4–12. Consider the child’s interest in cameras, simple games and learning to tell time when choosing.
02Can the DX4 track a child’s location?
The DX4 has no GPS. Its focus is photos, games and time-telling; it should not be selected as a location tracker.
03Can it go in the swimming pool?
No. DX4 is splash-proof, but its manual rules out swimming, bathing, showering and running water. Keep the micro-USB port cover closed when the port is not in use.
04How are charging and file transfers handled?
DX4 includes a rechargeable battery and micro-USB cable. Use the supplied cable with a computer to charge or transfer files. It does not support wireless charging. Follow the instructions supplied with the exact regional model.
05What can parents control?
DX4 School mode shows only the selected clock face during scheduled hours. Game Limit mode can disable games or set a daily limit. The manual notes that changing the date or time resets the limit.
06Do two watches need to be the same generation?
DX4’s manual describes connecting with another DX4 for its friend activities. Do not assume these activities work across DX2, DX3 and DX4. Computer transfers use USB; phone pairing is not required for the activities described here.
